Design Engineer
Prototype to production · interaction, motion, density
About the role
Sit between design and engineering — prototyping in code, owning motion and density, and shipping the polish that makes the product feel calm. You will close the loop between a Figma decision and a production deploy.
Responsibilities
- Prototype new surfaces in code, fast enough to compare three directions.
- Own motion, density, and accessibility across shipped surfaces.
- Maintain the design-system primitives engineers actually use.
- Pair with product designers to land details in production.
Basic qualifications
- 4+ years with React and modern CSS.
- A portfolio of shipped UI work, not just demos.
- Strong taste in motion and microinteraction.
- Comfort working without a strict design hand-off.
Preferred skills and experience
- Built or maintained a production design system.
- Experience with Framer Motion, WebGL, or canvas-driven UI.
- Comfort talking to non-designers about why a detail matters.
- Care for accessibility as a craft discipline.
