About the role

Own the spine underneath everything — Postgres, edge functions, and the event contracts that other services consume. You will set the bar for migrations, observability, and incident response.

Responsibilities

• Author non-trivial Postgres migrations with rollback plans.
• Operate the event spine — contracts, replay, and dead-letter handling.
• Run the on-call rotation and tighten time-to-detect.
• Pair with product engineers on data-model changes.

Basic qualifications

• 5+ years on platform or backend teams.
• Strong Postgres — query plans, indexes, locking.
• Production experience with edge or serverless runtimes.
• Willingness to be on-call (≈one week in four).

Preferred skills and experience

• Supabase or Postgres-as-a-platform experience.
• Built event-sourced or CQRS systems in production.
• Comfortable writing technical docs and runbooks.
• Vertical SaaS background.
